We finally get to share the big news! You can now RECYCLE Tom’s of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening peppermint toothpaste tubes (with other flavors to follow in 2020). How great is that for the earth? Thank you Tom’s of Maine! You can read the full announcement here.
Until now, toothpaste tubes haven’t been recyclable because most are made of a mixed material that doesn’t have a second life and has to be landfilled. But Tom’s of Maine was on a mission to help solve that problem. And we were lucky enough to get to see their FIRST EVER production run of the recyclable tube at their manufacturing facility in Maine and we’re just so proud of them for their passion for zero-waste. My heart is so full for such wonderful news and for this wonderful company making huge strides to help preserve our planet, people and animals alike. Just wow!
So, the tubes with the blue stripe down the side are recyclable as pictured here:
If you have one of these, toss it in your recycle bin and know that you are helping the earth.
Make sure you’re picking up Tom’s of Maine Antiplaque & Whitening peppermint toothpaste next time you’re getting toothpaste and know that you can recycle that tube. It will be available on shelves in the coming weeks, with all full size Tom’s of Maine toothpastes in the new recyclable tube by the end of 2020.
Recycling practices vary by municipality and if your town doesn’t accept #2 plastic, the Tom’s of Maine Natural Care Recycling Program, a partnership with TerraCycle, is a recommended option for recycling all personal and oral care packaging regardless of the brand. You can learn all the latest on the recyclable tube on the Tom’s of Maine website.
What an amazing company!
