This past weekend our family had some big discussions on our trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats and to Great Basin National Park in Utah. We talked about me always being too stressed between business matters and me taking that out on myself mentally and in other ways on the family. How I don’t have a lot of patience, raise my voice, get anxious and more. I never take the time to really think through things for the kids because my mind is always on other things. The simple things guys. Sure, I can plan a trip and take time to do that but I really skip the little things and am guilty. I don’t take notice to the little things and it’s going to affect the kids and my family in the long run. I always skip brushing their teeth in the morning. Confession: I feel like such a bad mom rushing them out the door counting down the minutes so I can get to work. How horrible is that? My mind is NOT in the right place with that. I love what I do for work but I don’t love always feeling like that and its’ not fair to my children and husband.
Toms of Maine has invited me to join their Goodness Circle and there couldn’t be a better time in my life to be a part of this over the next year. How’s that for timing? I’m working towards sharing more good in the lives of the people around me and the first step there is giving them more attention and not always being distracted. The second step is being more conscious about the products we use on our body because unknowingly, we’ve been using products that are not environmentally friendly or truly all natural and organic.
So, our morning routine has been re-worked to include moments to slow down, give hugs, give kisses and to brush our teeth. That kid might win the girls over now with that look, but it won’t work when he’s a young adult with rotting teeth and bad breath. Ick. It’s more important than ever for me to teach him good oral hygiene habits and to get Theodore brushing. More importantly, we are so thrilled to have a great flavored all-natural mouthwash and toothpaste (silly strawberry) that the kids are excited to use that is alcohol and dye free!
